Roy slams fake anti-China bill

Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) released the following statement Friday after voting against the Democrats' so-called "America COMPETES Act of 2022" -- H.R. 4521.

When it comes to China policy, our approach should be what the woman from Texas famously said to Coach Herb Brooks of the "Miracle on Ice" hockey team at the 1980 Winter Olympics: "Beat those commie bastards."

Instead, Nancy Pelosi's Democrats put forward a "China bill" that does nothing to confront the Chinese Communist Party, nothing to address their gross human rights violations, and nothing to combat their efforts to undermine our economy and national security every single day. True to leftist form, this bill is loaded down with Trojan-horse deficit spending on crony programs, radical climate wish list items, new and expanded visa programs to help China's economy, and woke nonsense that has absolutely nothing to do with our national security or economic prosperity.

The Chinese Communist Party is our enemy; the sooner people in this town start acting like it, the better.
